I'm not sure if this will help, Steve, but I ran across this post in the
Compaq LTE 5000 forum recently and thought I'd pass it on to you.

Subject: Power on password reset for LTE 5280
From: spike5_7l 05/08/00 15:19:45
I Have discovered the reset procedure for the LTE 5280, and as I had such a
problem trying to determine what it was I thought I would share. It has
nothing to do with the battery. It is a three pronged jumper just in front of
the left screen arm (where it attaches to the frame). Simply removed and
change positons (mine was covering 1-2 so I changed it to 2-3) and poof, BoB's
your uncle the nasty power on password is gone!! Hope this helps everyone
with the LTE 5000 series.

Hope that helps...
